Realignment
How this tool counts
Drag a school from one league into another, drop it on Unassigned to take it out, or start a new league and fill it. A team's value is its average MPR over the five most recent complete seasons — the live season is left out, it is not finished — and a league's number is the plain mean of its members, the same definition the Conferences view uses. Drag on a desktop; on a phone, tap a team and then tap a league. Nothing here is saved and nothing here changes the published ratings: this is a what-if board over the shipped numbers.
FCS call-ups come off the FCS model, which is fitted on its own scale — zero is its average rated team, not an average FBS team — so each season's FCS rating is shifted onto the FBS ladder before it is averaged in. The shift is a measured anchor from that season, printed under the controls, and the choice of anchor is yours. A team with fewer seasons behind it than five (a call-up, a new FBS program) prints how many it has.
Budgets. The Value switch can replace the MPR with what a school spends: football expense is the all-in football figure from the U.S. Department of Education's EADA collection — student aid and coach pay included — and the department number is the same filing's grand total. Both are self-reported by each athletics department and unaudited, and both are dollars, so no FCS conversion applies to them. A school the federal filing has no football row for prints a dash, never a zero — the service academies are absent from that collection entirely.
Sharing. Share copies a link that reopens this exact board. The moves travel in the URL as one short code rather than a list of school names (20 moves is about 60 characters instead of 460), and nothing is stored on a server — the link is the board. A link made against one season's alignment is not applied to another season's: it opens the real alignment and says so, rather than moving the wrong schools.
